Wes Moore Becomes Maryland's First Black Governor
Wes Moore has defeated a far-right Republican backed by former President Donald J. Trump to become the first African American Governor of Maryland.
Mr. Moore, 44, is a relative newcomer to politics but he has quickly gained popularity throughout the state and after receiving several high-profile endorsements from Oprah Winfrey and more.
He will be the third Black person elected governor of a U.S. state since Reconstruction, not the nation’s third Black governor.
