Reggie "Polo" Burwell, frontman of the band that founded D.C.'s bounce beat sound, has died. TCB's lead talker passed away this morning at St. Thomas More nursing home in Hyattsville, Md., according to TCB's manager, Ben Adda.
During an April 2010 TCB show in Waldorf, Md., Burwell collapsed onstage, later complaining of headaches. His condition worsened as a friend transported him home, then to United Medical Center. Burwell soon suffered a massive brain hemorrhage and entered into a coma. Adda says the vocalist was comatose when he died this morning.
At the time of his hemorrhage in 2010, rumors began to circulate that Burwell had died. His band released a statement at the time that put those rumors to rest. Today, rumors reappeared on Twitter that Polo had passed away. This time, the chatter proved, tragically, to be true. - washingtoncitypaper
