You will be responsible to research and write articles in a style which engages readers. This position requires a high-energy, self-directed, deadline-oriented individual who has exceptional communication skills.
DMVLIFE Bloggers can do their posts from home and email us the content.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Possess engaging "conversational" writing skills with a professional posture. The successful candidate must be computer and Internet savvy, with experience in using and building blog/social media communities. Degree in journalism, communications, or related field preferred but not required. The ideal candidate must be a self-starter who, while fulfilling his/her expected duties, is always looking for new and innovative ways to help grow the organization. He/she must be responsible, timely, and, most importantly, enthusiastic about the position and about his/her own improvement. The ideal candidate must also know how to work as a team member representing our organization.
PAY: We are seeking motivated individuals. This is an unpaid position with the potential of it being a paid full-time position. In the first two weeks, we will determine if you are a good fit for the blog and continue. If you are a good fit, we will continue working with you for 13 weeks. By the end of the 13 weeks, if we are happy with your performace, you may receive a proposal to be promoted to a paid full-time position based on traffic flow of the blog. If you are currently enrolled in an academic program, you are eligible to receive course credit.

DMVLIFE PROMOTIONS/PR/MARKETING INTERNSHIPJOB DESCRIPTION: DMVLIFE Interns work as a team, and with other staff members, to ensure that there is a constant flow of people inquiring about DMVLIFE, whether through online media or grassroots promotions projects. DMVLIFE Interns will make sure that there is always a DMVLIFE presence in the local Arts community, and even beyond. DMVLIFE interns are key players in the success and quality of DMVLIFE as an organization and will execute this by assisting the directors in various projects, contributing to the ever-growing DMVLIFE community, and on occasion saturating local arts events, fashion shows, schools, networking events, eco events and hot spots to spread the word.
The goal of a DMVLIFE intern is to make sure everyone knows about, has heard about or is familiar with DMVLIFE.com, whether through online/web marketing, editorial work, or grassroots promotion projects and will, therefore, be held responsible for the following:
• DMVLIFE Interns will report to DMVLIFE Executive Director & Development Director
• DMVLIFE Interns will assist other staff members with various projects
• DMVLIFE Interns will be scheduled to attend events and shows and all intern meetings

DMVLIFE DESIGN INTERNSHIPJOB DESCRIPTION: DMVLIFE Interns work as a team, and with other staff members, to complete graphic design projects (eg. flyers, web site changes, invitations, ads) and contribute to the overall look and uniqueness of DMVLIFE through aspects of design.
DMVLIFE Design interns are held responsible for the following:
• DMVLIFE Interns will report to DMVLIFE Marketing and Web Director
• DMVLIFE Interns will assist other staff members with various creative projects
• DMVLIFE Interns will brainstorm and contribute with their own creative input and skills
• DMVLIFE Interns will be scheduled to attend all mandatory intern and staff meetings
• DMVLIFE Interns will need to be available at least 10 hours a week
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate must be a self-starter who, while fulfilling his/her expected duties, is always looking for new and innovative ways to help grow the organization. He/she must be responsible, timely, and, most importantly, enthusiastic about the position and about his/her own improvement. DMVLIFE SHOWCASE DIRECTORWHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: DMVLIFE is now looking for well-rounded, experienced event producers to act as a local representative/planner/producer for the DMV.
Do you have experience with producing events of all sizes? Are you used to working in a fast-paced environment? Are you a positive and energetic person? Do you have an insane amount of love for the arts? Can you meet deadlines? Are you independently organized? Are you a time management wizard? Willing to give one event every other month (for 9 months) all that you got? If so ... DMVLIFE might be a fit for you.
We're looking for a deadline driven, organized individual with keen communication skills, creative thinking and an overall drive and passion for their work.
JOB DESCRIPTION: A local DMV representative and event producer is responsible for planning, promoting and producing a showcase every other month in the DMV. The Director will work and interact closely with both DMVLIFE Headquarters, affiliates, assistants and media staff as well as the local artists and arts community. The DMVLIFE Showcase Director is responsible for ensuring the seamless booking, planning, and coordinating of each showcase, every other month.
In addition to the above, the ideal candidate will represent DMVLIFE, promoting the organization and serving as an ambassador in the area. This includes, though is not limited to:
- Booking DMV artistic talent every other month
- Managing communications between booked talent, venue, and staffing
- Conducting meetings and interviews with potential artists and staffing
- Networking with local arts organizations, collectives, and communities, building relationships w/ potential artistic talents
- Promoting each showcase as well as DMVLIFE as an organization
- Participating in public relations and pursue press coverage per event showcase
- The production of each DMVLIFE showcase from set-up to tear down, and everything in between
- Being available via email & phone to answer questions, coordinate call times and venue relations pre-event
- Conferring w/ talent before, during, and after all events, ensuring the artist’s satisfaction and maintaining positive rapport
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 2-4 years experience in event planning/production
- Strong ties with the DMV community is a plus
- Strong networking skills

- Can work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

DMVLIFE DEVELOPMENT DIRECTORWHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: DMVLIFE is now looking for a new online developer. You must be able to push both the publisher and editor to find new ways to grow our digital audience, through new features, design tweaks or overhauls, better use of social media, or some other idea that you come up with.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Besides helping the editors run DMVLIFE.com, you'll act a guide to the rest of the staff--training them on new tools, prioritizing development projects, and taking the lead on traffic-building initiatives. The online producer reports to the owner, but you'll also work directly with the business side for sales, marketing, and event initiatives. The ideal candidate is a competent HTML developer with a nose for journalism, and also a writer with a solid grounding in the technical side of web publishing.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Online or journalism degree preferred
- At least one year's experience in newspaper or Web journalism
- Basic knowledge of CSS
- Intermediate knowledge of HTML required; advanced preferred. You need to be able to look at raw HTML that you've never seen before and figure out what it's doing.
- Basic Photoshop (or Pixelmator), audio & video editing experience (we use iMovie)
- An abiding love for the DMV
- Demonstrated management skills
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Curating and updating DMVLIFE.com several throughout the day (choosing stories, writing headlines, editing photos)
- Producing multimedia content (web video, audio, photo slideshows etc.)
- Conceiving and implementing changes to the design of DMVLIFE.com
- Working with staff and freelancers on both technical and editorial matters
- Daily management of our social network presence (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
- Providing reports and analysis on weekly traffic
- Creating and sending Emails
- Interacting with local bloggers to find and develop stories and solicit feedback
- Meeting daily with the owner to keep him in the loop on upcoming editorial projects
