About DJ Freeez: Born in Plainfield, NJ, DJ Freeez began his music journey from after moving to Franklin, NJ. From city to suburb, and private school to public school by junior high school, Freeez brought together a select few friends from different backgrounds and created a young rap collective, FTD, "F-Town Diplomats". Professional studio time was expensive, but spending hours recording music and shadowing engineers, Freeez learned the essentials to recording & mixing music. Soon after the young rapper constructed a recording studio out of his mother's suburban garage.

Growing up in New Jersey, hearing mainstream remixes from DJ's like DJ Tameil, Tim Dolla, and Baltimore DJ's, K-Swift, Blaqstarr, & Rod Lee, were prominent at birthday events, and family cookouts. The Baltimore Club sound reminded the community of house music and modern disco. At the time, with the rap name of, Free-EZ, he grew familiar with the culture and started collecting Baltimore Club CD's by 2006, and continued to buy Jersey Club releases from Newark DJs that were trending on MySpace. That style of music, for the time known as Brick City Club Music, had an incredible impact on Franklin, and the young engineer was the person with the most of it! Using a DJ controller, and Mom's laptop, Free-EZ DJ'd his first house party in 2007 and never looked back.

Throwing house parties throughout high school, Free-EZ linked up with teen club promoter, Na'eem, of Brolic Entertainment. That was the major connection the young DJ needed to bridge the party gap between Franklin's suburb & Newark's city scene. Through Na'eem, and other well-connected mentors like DJ Mont & DJ Dark Kent, he began establishing his reputation in the New Jersey club community while sharpening the technical skills of DJing. All of this while still attending high school, and being a 4-Season athlete.

As an student-athlete, the teenager accomplished to win 2 State Championships back-to-back at Franklin for Track & Field, and chose Bowie State University to continue athletics and higher education. With the new name of DJ Freeez, and the availability of a redshirted freshman, the collegial athlete would set up his DJ equipment outside of his co-ed dorm and broadcast his practice on the university's promenade until campus police shut it down. You have to be heard somehow! Publishing mixtapes and distributing them on cars in the parking lot, DJ Freeez became a well-known campus DJ; nearly having three gigs a day, and still traveling to New Jersey on weekends to fulfill inquiries there.

Studying Broadcast Journalism really attracted the undergrad DJ to Radio and Television production. Unfortunately, the university had a dormant radio station that was no longer broadcasting. Freeez saw a need there. From after broadcasting live video streams of him mixing in the dorm room, and conducting interviews using leftover radio equipment from the school; he began advocating for the college to rebuild a new radio station.

In 2014, HBCUBuzz.com awarded DJ Freeez as a Top 5 HBCU DJ in America. So all while still demolishing college parties, and DC nightlife; Freeez used his education and networks to propel his DJ career. Gaining internships at Midieast Recording & Photography Studios, University of Maryland's WMUC, then 95.5 WPGC. The momentum brought him to P-Stew's internet radio show at Listen Vision Studios called "The 1 Nation Hip-Hop Show." The show was nominated for DMVLife.com's "2015 Best Radio Show".

With P-Stew working at Urban One's 93.9 WKYS, that was the immediate connection he needed to be apart of the new generation of radio DJ's. In 2015, the semester before graduation, DJ Freeez got the call from 93.9 WKYS to audition during a holiday mixshow weekend, ripped it, then got hired as a DJ/Mixer. Leveling up in the company, the young Bulldog had tacked on more positions in Promotions, Programming, and Executive Production.

At the time known as the youngest DJ at WKYS, in 2016 he traveled to Los Angeles, and DJ'd for Jay IDK's SXSW tour in Austin, TX, covering 12 shows in 5-days. Now open to travel, and some money in his pocket, DJ Freeez connects the dots between labels, entertainers, and management from major cities like Atlanta, New York, Los Angeles, Baltimore, and D.C. Shortly after coming back from SXSW, DJ Freeez earned the Weekend's 2:00a-6:00a slot as an On-Air Personality. Broadcasting on Saturday's, Sunday's, & Monday mornings, #FreeezusSeason is the segment you will hear as the prime time for listenership from club goers, late night workers, insomniacs and early birds.

Still an advocate for higher education, and HBCU's; in 2017 DJ Freeez announced his and Urban One's involvement with Bowie State University and their brand new radio station, WBSU: Bulldog Nation Radio. The collegial radio station that will create internship, and networking opportunities, while nonetheless, hands-on experience for students seriously interested in pursuing radio, production and mass media journalism.
